Talk Announcement – “Linux improvements in memory corruption based protections” by Vlatko Kosturjak

We are pleased to announce that Vlatko Kosturjak, Chief Research Officer at Marlink, with over two decades of experience in information security and cybersecurity, will be one of the speakers at the DORS/CLUC conference!
His extensive experience, gained through various roles in the industry, has provided him with a deep understanding of both security governance and the technical aspects of system protection. Vlatko is a passionate advocate of open-source software, known for developing popular open-source tools and actively contributing to free security software projects.
In his talk, titled Linux Improvements in Memory Corruption Based Protections, Vlatko will focus on the latest advancements in protecting against memory corruption bugs. He will discuss the progress of stack-based protections at both the hardware and software levels, including innovations such as Hardware-enforced stack protection that prevents control hijacking via indirect calls and return addresses, such as call/jump oriented programming (COP/JOP) and return oriented programming (ROP).
He will also highlight the new protective measures implemented on Intel platforms, which provide additional security through Forward-edge and Backward-edge CFI (Control Flow Integrity). This talk will provide key insights into advanced protections within the Linux environment, a topic that is especially relevant given the growing cybersecurity threats.
Join us to learn more about the latest advancements in system protection and how you can implement these innovations in your organizations.
