Government of Serbia released 2.5 million addresses as an open data. Serbia community did a lot of work to make importing of these addresses reality. This talk will explain all the discussion and preparation work that went into this (legal work, community work, tagging schema decisions, labeling the data…) as well as all the development work (multiple tile servers, minutely reports, automated import scripts, QA tools – all with a help from OSS tools – from Makefile to Python geospatial libraries). Special focus will be on how the community, as well as Microsoft editorial team worked on this, our strategies for completing the map, and all the problems we encountered during this import. After 9 months, we imported 1.5 million addresses (60%) and we hope to be complete by the time DORS/CLUC is held.
