When we do infrastructure preparation, usually the installation process is reduced to boring manual work that we repeat over and over again. We take the server out of the box, put it in the rack, connect it to the power and the network and start installing the operating system, whatever it is. After that, we spend a lot of time doing an update. After that, the installation of services that we decided to place on our server. After that, the configuration of the service, after which we do testing whether our service is working. Same thing with hypervisors, same thing with switches, same thing with storage. When we do this X times, boredom sneaks up from the sidelines and – more than usual – we are prone to mistakes. How do we deal with this problem?
